About Southeast Tucson
Southeast Tucson continues to experience rapid residential development. The area includes Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. The area is considered to be south of Golf Links Road. The master planned communities of Rita Ranch and Santa Rita Ranch are located in the heart of southeast Tucson.
The suburban community of Vail is also located on the southeast side. The town is about 21 miles southeast of Tucson. A small town sense of community, highly affordable housing, and great schools make Vail the perfect place to bring up a young family, while proximity to Tucson and big city jobs and culture make Vail an ideal commute.
Vail was named after ranchers Edward and Walter Vail. Vail was Christened as a town in 1893 but has no legal boundary. It is part of unincorporated Pima County. Because of its proximity to Tucson, Vail will likely become a suburb within the city limits in the future. Read more about Vail.
The Vail School District encompasses six elementary schools, two middle schools, and two high schools. The District is committed to its low student to teacher ratios and high degree of community involvement. Find out more about Vail schools.
